The Red Penny Papers is very pleased to announce the lineup for our Fall, 2012 issue — yes, our first anniversary. Time flies when you’re reading pulp, doesn’t it?
- “Arkady’s Apprentice” by S.J. Hirons
- “So Long, Warren” by Ash Krafton
- “Iron Jack” by Mark Rossmore
- “Oni wa Soto” by Sara Kate Ellis
- “Janitors Of The Cosmos” by William Vitka
Not that we do issues that aren’t special around here, but they’re all their own kind of special. This one is not just our first anniversary, but we’ve convinced the wonderful Courtney Bernard to return for another cover. If the name sounds familiar, she’s responsible for both our first cover ever, Fall 2010, and for our cover lady and muse, Magdala Twistleton. Her cover illustration is based on William Vitka’s story — and Mr. Vitka happens to be RPP‘s first ever return author. (“Jack the Ripper, Savior of Humanity” featured last winter.)
But wait, there’s more! Not only do we offer this fine blend of the new and the old, the modern and the steampunk, the fantastic and the horrifying, but we’ll be offering it in e-book format at long last. Fall 2011 will be the first ever issue of The Red Penny Papers available in epub, pdf, mobi, etc format. It will be distributed free of charge, just like the web version, via Smashwords.
In aid of this development of awesome, we’ve brought in the wonderful Aaron Polson, also an RPP author past and future, and his Simple Kindle Formatting. People have been asking for the quarterly issues in ebook format from the start, and we’re lucky to have a pro like Aaron who can answer the demand. Thanks, man!
In the meantime, keep the wonderful subs coming. We’re still open until the end of August — and then, September 1, the RPP Anniversary Issue goes live.

Happy Anniversary, RPP!
Thanks, Louise! <3
RPP, you are awesome. Please stop haunting my dreams, though.
But we LIKE it in your dreams…
